SUMMARY:Studer Community Institute Gingerbread House
DESCRIPTION:The Gingerbread House Competition will run from 10 a.m – 1 p.m Saturday\, Dec. 16\, at the SCI building\, 220 W. Garden St. Local residents and judges will choose the winner of the gingerbread competition\, which includes prize money awarded to local bakers\, artists\, or anyone with gingerbread\, frosting\, and creativity. Also\, this year’s competition will include participation from local high and middle school’s culinary arts academies as well as an elementary school showcase. \n\n\n\n\nENTRY \nTo be eligible for the competition/showcase\, you must register via Eventbrite by 2:15 p.m. on Friday\, December 8th. You must be able to attend the Gingerbread Competition\, or have a representative attend\, and drop your gingerbread house off between 7:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. on the day of the event. To be eligible for the adult individual or team division\, you must be 18+ years old and pay the $50/person or $200/team entry fee. No more than 5 people are allowed per team. All proceeds go to benefit the Studer Community Institute – Early Brain Development Department. Your entry number will be given to you after registration. Please complete one (1) entry form per team. \nDESIGN AND SIZE \nEntry must be placed on a board base. Base must fit inside taped off section for entry. Entries combined with a base must not be larger than 18 inches high\, 16 inches wide\, and 24 inches long. 1⁄2 inch plywood as a base for your entry is recommended. Use of pegs/risers/feet on the bottom of the base is preferred but not required. If you wish to install pegs/risers/feet on the underside of your base\, they are considered as part of the base and must not cause the entry’s overall height to exceed 18 inches. \nMATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION \nThe main structure must be constructed of at least 50% visible/exposed gingerbread. The use of gum paste\, fondant\, modeling chocolate\, royal icing\, Isomalt\, cast sugar\, gelatin and pressed sugar is highly encouraged. Do not use anything on the entry that needs refrigeration. The use of battery-powered electrics and non-edible materials is allowed. \nJUDGING AND PRIZES \nJudging will be held Saturday\, December 16\, 2023\, prior to the event. Winners will be announced at 11:30 a.m.\, during the event. The parade also features the nationally renowned Blue Angels flight team and a host of organizations from around the region. \nPreceding the parade is the 1.2 miles Christmas Parade Dash\, sponsored by the Pensacola Runners Association. \nAll profits of the Cox Pensacola Christmas Parade go to the local high school band booster organizations. DESCRIPTION:The Snowball Derby presented by Bayou Fox Hooters is a 300-lap super late model stock car race held annually at the Five Flags Speedway a half-mile paved oval track in Pensacola\, Florida. The race has been contested every year since 1968 and is typically run on the first weekend in December\, although in some years it has been run on the second weekend. \nThe Snowball Derby has a reputation for attracting some of the bigger names in short tract racing including top series NASCAR drivers (when not in conflict with their year-end banquet) because it is run after most tracks and touring series have concluded their season. For example\, the 2009 event was won by NASCAR driver Kyle Busch and also featured Steve Wallace\, Bobby Gill\, Chase Elliot\, Matt Kenseth’s son Ross Kenseth\, David Stremme and Cale Gale. SUMMARY:Fill the Mayflower Thanksgiving Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Fill The Mayflower is an annual event held the Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving at Cordova Mall. We ask the community to come out and fill the Mayflower trucks from Coastal Moving & Storage with donations of food and cash. Volunteers are onsite to take in donations and load them into boxes and onto the Mayflower trucks. Cat Country 98.7\, NewsRadio 1620 & WEAR ABC Channel 3 do live broadcasts from the parking lot. DESCRIPTION:It’s almost time to bundle up and feel the chill in the air! Come warm up with us and sample some of the best “wintery” craft beers available during Winter Brewfest 2023. Attendees will be provided with samples from over a dozen craft winter-themed beers\, including several made in local breweries! \n  \nThe admission fee to the event is $20 in advance and customers will have access to all the great beers offered. Beginning the week prior to the event (and at the door)\, ticket prices will increase to $25. \n  \nSamples available while supplies last during the event. DESCRIPTION:Children of all ages are invited to enjoy a morning of holiday fun with Santa\, Mrs. Claus and Santa’s elves. The date for the 2019 Pancakes with Santa will be announced soon! \nPancakes with Santa is hosted by Cordova Rotary Club with support from many area businesses. Proceeds of the event will benefit Gulf Coast Kid’s House\, a nonprofit organization that facilitates the investigation\, prosecution\, and treatment of child abuse and neglect and promotes child abuse prevention awareness through community education. \nTickets are $10 and include a pancake breakfast and children’s activities.
